Simone’s work in a word is excellent. Unlike many professionals in the world of web design and social media technology, Simone brings to the table a real understanding of what makes a business, regardless of size and industry WORK! She is able to translate the thoughts of the business owner/client into what can only be considered artistry upon completion. In so doing she not only meets the client’s needs but forecasts the needs of the clients many stakeholders in a seamless package that is truly unique.

I recently worked with Simone Pasmore to revamp an existing website and update its functionality, form and appeal. It wasn’t an easy process as the website was dreary looking and not functioning properly but I must say that I am very impressed with the final product. I have received positive feedback from my colleagues and clients. Simone has gone above and beyond by providing responses and services by not only email but instant messaging, skype and telephone at varying hours of the day and night. She has also dazzled me with her great work ethic. I will certainly recommend her to my friends, family, and clients for any future webdesign and maintenance project.

1. What got you interested in the field of massage?

This should have been the easiest question to answer but for me, it was the hardest.  In short, I would say, a desire to help others get better by addressing the root of their discomfort.

Life is a journey and it is interesting how various elements come together to lead you down a specific path. I am not just in the field of massage... I am continually developing into a holistic therapist and my conscious start on this journey was reading my granny's Back to Eden book. At the time (2009) I was pursuing my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Accounting and I found myself changing my eating habits, using herbal remedies as my first aid and recommending concoctions to my friends. I was always in Jenn’s looking for new herbs and new books to quench my thirst for knowledge. I even inquired about doing a course in herbal medicine but the timing wasn't right and the funds were not available.

At this point I should add that I am a karateka and a fitness enthusiast so naturally massages were a regular occurrence to ease muscle soreness. At karate, we would give each other massages especially after a tough workout series. I even remember one of my teammates, who had never received my massages, simply looking at my hands and proclaiming 'you would give good massages!'. This was around 2001.

Fast forward to 2011, I saw an ad in the paper for the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) massage certificate and I decided to join the class. The joy I felt from being able to help ease someone else's physical discomfort through massage was one of the most satisfying and spiritually uplifting feelings I have ever felt. Since then, this passion has driven me to continually grow in this field and as they say, "the rest is history". Lol.

2. Why the name L'taj?

L'taj is a combination of the initials of the original business partners – Tamacia Lynch and myself. We wanted a name that epitomised two of our key desires for the business:

● the fact that teamwork makes the dream work...hence the combination of initials and

● from the sound of our name alone,  you should think professional serenity that just makes you want to relax in your own sanctuary.  Now take a deep breath and say... Luh-tahj.

3. When did you start and how has the business evolved over time?

L'taj Massage Sanctuary (L’taj) was born in 2012 and since then it has been continually evolving. It started with the dream of two young professionals who only had a three month SJPP certificate and a desire to help people. Realising that more would be required if we were to offer the quality service we wanted to be synonymous with L'taj, we made the decision to become internationally certified. The PBHC School and Clinic with their ITEC programme was chosen as our training ground. From then to now, we have been able to add exciting treatments such as holistic massage, reflexology, Indian head and seated acupressure massage to our services.  Currently we are in process of adding aromatherapy, rehabilitation services and diversifying from the body treatments to beauty modalities such as facials, eye treatments, waxing and manicures and pedicures.

Not only have we expanded in terms of our qualifications, but also in terms of our outreach to the community.  L'taj is mobile at heart - we want to meet you in your comfort zone; hence our slogan “We bring the sanctuary to you” .  Our first public event was at St Paul's Entrepreneur Fair (2015). It was at this time that Miss Michal Lynch joined the team and she has been integral in co- organizing and staffing other “L'taj in the Community” events such as the Hastings Farmer's Market, Argonauts 246 events, fairs, birthday parties, weddings and even Crop Over band limes with Soca Chippers.

Our area of expertise and interest lies in being holistic and truly helping the individual at the source of their discomfort.   Massage and spa therapies are not a luxury item - the ancient civilisations (Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Mayans, Amerindians) recognized this and saw it as a part of a healthy lifestyle. With this in mind, we have started connecting with other persons in the preventative health care sector, such as Kurt Clarke of Go Fitness Solutions, and sports clubs such as the QC Karate Club.  Our aim is to continually grow in this area, and make L'taj synonymous with holistic healthcare - not just locally, but also regionally.

I have said enough for the moment...stay tuned for what will be coming next!

4. What does it mean to you to call yourself an entrepreneur?

For me, being an entrepreneur is:

- having a vision, keeping it  in sight and working towards it

- being in communion with the Creator for guidance

- continually thinking about strategies to grow

- having the courage to put your plans into action, and

- not being too afraid to fail.

We are all entrepreneurs of our lives, you are your own brand.  At the end of the day, we will be held accountable for how we have used our talents, time and treasures to the benefit of others.

5 Tips to increase LinkedIn engagement

5 Tips to increase LinkedIn engagement

In 2015 LinkedIn has approximately 364 million+ users in over 200 countries and has become a powerful network for businesses to engage each other and potential clients when showcasing their products or services. Therefore it is necessary, more than ever, for companies to maximize their engagement on LinkedIn if they wish to benefit from this social media platform.

Here are 5 tips on how to increase your LinkedIn engagement:

  1. Know when to post and post regularly - as with most social media platforms, there are usually days that are more popular than others to post, LinkedIn is not different. Tuesdays are seen as the most popular day to post with Monday, Thursday following closely behind, and Wednesday, while Friday seems to be the least favoured day. However, it is best to engage with your audience in the morning. Be consistent and post content such as blogs, articles, case studies, opinions on industry trends and news about your products and services.

  2. Partner up and share content - On LinkedIn there are ‘influencers,’ these are persons who have significant industry clout and expertise along with a massive following that your company can tap into. Engage these persons and share your content with them and vice versa. Build a relationship. This will position your brand and your employees to be seen as experts in your field.

  3. Use imagery - the same rule that applies to all other social media platforms, applies to LinkedIn. Visual content is always a good way to drive engagement and keep your audience interested in your page and what your brand has to offer. However, you must consider what imagery will fit with your written content as you do not wish to have your content out of sync with your visuals.

  4. Promote your profile - this simple way will help increase your visibility and engagement easily. By promoting your LinkedIn link or icon on your website, it will serve to inform your audience and potential clients about your profile and establish credibility, followers and potential leads.

  5. Create a showcase page - these pages serve as recommendation ads. It allows you to target a specific audience and showcase a specific product or service where you can post all relevant content about the campaign. The campaign can help increase engagement and drive traffic and product recommendations. Each time your product is recommended by someone, it is automatically shared with that person’s followers.

These are some simplistic tips that you can add to your social media strategy to help drive traffic and increase engagement to your LinkedIn pages. 5 Reasons Why Your Company Should Involve Your Employees in Your Social Media Strategy

Many businesses tend to cry out for the need to increase their social media visibility and engagement and are direly looking for different strategies to aid with this. However, many are feverishly and frantically searching the internet for solutions when their greatest assets are right in front of them. What are these assets you may ask? Simple, they are your human resources.

Many companies tend to have a ban on using social media at work because they are of the belief that this decreases productivity (when in fact it can help employees clear their minds in between stressful tasks). Gone are the days of that archaic logic since numerous businesses are now fully social media and digitally accessible. Businesses should not try to enforce bans or policies against social media in this age, rather, they should embrace it and use it to their advantage.

Your employees are your biggest and greatest brand ambassadors without even being asked. They know your brand, your company, and possibly are in sync with your messaging, so why not use them? They have ideas, knowledge and expertise in the fields that they are in within your company. This resource pool can be seen as a repository for content.

Secondly, content. Your employees can contribute to content creation. By allowing them to be part of the social media strategy you can create a repository of content regardless of what it is. These can be memes, articles, images, videos, questions, links etc. This creates an abundance of content that your company can consistently post without ever having a dearth. The social media strategist or coordinator can sift through for what is relevant and within the company’s messaging and branding, to post.

Thirdly and still related to content, a company will employee a complex group of people. This is, your staff will have different personalities, views, sense of humor, race, and so forth. Due to this, your content can appeal to a wider audience and demographic. It can position your brand for greater visibility and engagement. After all, people to people interaction is far greater than people to brand interaction, your employees can make your brand more desirable and appealing. Diversity is key.

Fourthly, you can have your very own focus group and oversight committee of sorts with your employees involved and engage in the social media strategy. It would be easier to poll your employees who are constantly on social media and have ideas of what their audiences like and do not like. They can give insight into what is trending and what is relevant without your company expensing itself creating polling instruments to gather this information. Also, with the many extra pairs of eyes, it is easier to spot any errors and inconsistencies in the content that is to be published.

Finally, albeit a worthwhile cause, it is a fun activity and a team building exercise. Allowing your employees to share in your strategy allows them to express themselves creatively, innovatively and humorously. It opens up their personal lives somewhat to the company and shows the company what type of person their employee is. It allows the staff to work together, to effectively and efficiently execute the tasks at hand to achieve a common goal. Moreover, by involving your employees in your social media strategy, you can uncover those persons who may have other talents or skills which may be beneficial to your company.

However, by involving your employees in your social media strategy, be sure to develop a company persona that stays within the boundaries of company’s brand and messaging. Also, allow one or two persons to oversee the process to maintain organization and to check for errors and inconsistencies.

10 Commandments of Social Media

Millions of people have social media accounts. Some use it to contact their family and friends while others post everything from their food to the color of their socks. There's even an app that will share with your followers when you've used the bathroom. Seriously, search on Google for the app "PoopLog"! As a person, you can choose whether or not you want to become one of the social media zombies and be a star on the next "Walking Dead - Social Media Edition". But, as a company you can use everyone's social media addiction to your benefit!

There are a lot of companies that use some form of social media marketing. Social media platforms give companies the opportunity reach their target market effectively without spending all of their marketing budgets. They can connect with prospects, present their company as a knowledgeable one, and even promote their services or products. In order to effectively use social media marketing, there are a few things you’ll need to remember. In this article, we will introduce them as the 10 commandments of social media.

1. Honor Thy Goals And Strategy

When you begin planning your social media marketing you’ll first need to come up with your goals. Some of the goals that can be achieved through social media include building brand awareness, bringing more traffic to your company website, and to increase engagement. Whether your company wants to do one or all of these things is really up to you, but with the right strategy you can achieve your goals.

2. Thou Shalt Not Steal Thy Neighbor’s Content

When you begin publishing posts on your social media accounts you may want to keep in mind the 80/20 rule. Essentially, only 20% of your company’s posts should be self-promotional, for example, sharing your own blogs, your advertisement, or your video. The other 80% should be content from relevant sources, such as influencers, industry-related blogs, and publications, etc. The most important thing to remember when using someone else’s content is to give them credit by tagging them on your post. If for some reason you cannot tag that person, company, or publication, be sure to at least state who you got the content for. This needs to be done with images, video, articles, etc.

3. Thou Shalt Not Like Thy Own Posts

We get it! You saw your post, got overly excited and clicked “like”, only to realize that you liked your company’s post AS your company. Not only does this make your company seem egotistical, it doesn’t benefit you in any way. Luckily, “liking” your post from your personal page will not have a negative effect on your brand and it allows your friends to see the post your company published.

In order to change who you identify as when you "like" your company post you'll need to 1st click on the image on the bottom right corner of the post, and then you will select your personal Facebook.

Change User for Facebook like Post

4. Always Engage Thy Audience

Your followers do not want a company that is boring and won’t engage. Some great ways to engage your customers include launching a contest, sharing customer stories, share some trivia questions, or ask customers for ideas. Customers want to be able to get something more than just a boring post from you. Companies will have a much better chance of selling a product or service to customers that experience better engagement.

5. Thou Shalt Not Spam Thy Followers

The last thing anyone wants to see when they log into their social media account is a timeline filled with promotions and advertisements. In fact, companies that do not follow the 80/20 rule and advertise themselves way more than they should often lose prospects and followers. The best way to not spam your followers is to follow the 80/20 rule mentioned above, only sharing your company’s content or advertisement 20% of the time. Not only will your followers appreciate it, they will consider your company more respectable.

6. Thou Shalt Not Ignore Thy Audience

Your followers include fans, customers, and prospects. That is why you should be listening (and responding!) to your audience. If they have any questions, offer unsolicited advice, have a complaint, or share interest in your post you should be ready and willing to reply to them. Your audience wants to know you’re not a robot, so reply like a human!

7. Thou Shalt Not Have Privacy Settings

There’s a little-known fact that company pages have privacy settings. Not only do these settings control who can see your page, they also control who can see your posts. In order to ensure that your page and posts are available for the public (and your followers) to see you can go to Facebook’s Help page, which gives you detailed instructions on how you can change your company page’s privacy settings.

8. Thou Shall Always Be Consistent

It’s important that your branding be consistent throughout all of your social media profiles. You may need to resize images, but you can always use your company colors, logo, and headers. You should also be consistent with your posts. If you come up with a fun post to put up once a week, such as “Funny Friday”, be sure that your share a post every Friday at the same time. You can do the same if you want to share webinars once a month or any other content. Just remember to be consistent. One great way of pleasing your audience is to post daily at the same exact time. This way your followers will already be expecting your posts and maybe even looking forward to them.

9. Thou Shall Run Contests, Games, and Sweepstakes

Nothing gets the attention of existing followers and new followers like a contest, game, or sweepstakes. It helps increase engagement and can even get your followers to share their contact information with you. For example, some companies will run a contest where followers will have to fill out a form and then share the contest post on their own wall. The winner will be picked randomly and then given a gift. This will not only get you the followers contact information, it also helps you get your brand in front of their connections as well.

10. Thou Shall Measure Thy Social Media Marketing Success

When you first put together your social media marketing strategy you came up with your main goals. Social media company pages often provide you with analytics, which you can use to effectively measure whether or not your social media efforts are succeeding or failing. You can also use it to identify which posts received the best responses. This will allow you to get rid of any efforts that are not working and focus on what has been successful so far.

Regardless of what your goals are in your social media marketing efforts, you can follow these 10 commandments to ensure your company page’s success.

v\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} o\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} w\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} .shape {behavior:url(#default#VML);} Normal 0 false false false EN-GB JA X-NONE /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Cambria; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-language:JA;}
